National Flight Academy
The new National Flight Academy (NFA) was designed and constructed to emulate the inside of an aircraft carrier. This design resulted in a building with a very high ceiling exposing ductwork and mechanical piping. The right partner was needed to design and install mechanical components to look like those of an air craft carrier. Comfort Systems USA Southeast (CSUSASE) was ready with the expertise and craftsmanship to achieve the desired outcome.
The CSUSASE team:
• Used coordination and detailed craftsmanship to install the overhead systems as required.
• Installed high efficiency equipment and minimized the National Flight Academy’s annual energy and maintenance costs.
• Safely executed the National Flight Academy project with no lost time or recordable injuries.
A Closer Look
Comfort Systems USA Southeast was selected by Greenhut Construction Company as the heating, ventilating, and air conditioning mechanical contractor for the $2,316,000 HVAC scope of work.
The air side system is variable air volume. Other systems installed include an energy recovery ventilator, condensing hot water high efficiency boiler and a chilled water system served by an existing central energy plant.
The National Flight Academy is poised to be a premier educational experience where the excitement and wonder of flight can ignite our youth’s passion for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.
The immersive simulated environment, coupled with the most revolutionary methods in instruction, will foster cooperative learning and inspire young people primarily in grades 7 through 12 to pursue the math and sciences today that open the door to science and engineering degrees and
careers of tomorrow.
